Just wanted to add my praise for this wonderful piece of software.

After burning all my 2003 and 2004 digital photo's to CD, all had burned correctly with no errors, so in my haste I didn't check the last disk before deleting the files from the hard drive recycle bin. When I finally did check it, the disk wouldn't read at all. They are only my happy snaps, but have family, friends, and travel photo's that I would really hate to lose.

Luckily, your link came up on the first page with google, so I hit the jackpot in one. Like most, I thought maybe it would be a scam, but being able to download the demo, and retrieve a small file and check the result, I was happy to pay the $40 and retrieve the 500MB of data that otherwise would have ruined my new year celebration.

Your recovery program, File Scavenger Version 2, saved me today. I actively work with desktop video production and today in the middle >> of attempting to reformat another drive in my computer, in my haste I >> inadvertantly selected the wrong drive to format. ( funny how the >> disk management program in XP moves the graphics around )..One moment the drive I was working on was at the top of the list, the next moment, it was somewhere else.

I accidently hit the format button and immediately realized what had happened. My editing & rendering work (well over an hours worth) was gone...unretrievably lost , so I thought.

In desperation, I went online and discovered your program after attempting to use a few others. I run two hard drives on my XP home computer. I use the second one to store games, music, family photos, back ups, etc. I had to reinstall XP on the main drive this weekend. After the reinstallation, Windows refused to read the second, backup drive, saying that it needed formatting. I tried the disk on some other machines, and they all said the same thing. I was pretty much at my wit's end. I knew this was not the case as it had been happily working away for ages prior to that. Online help forums were no use at all for fixing this problem. I downloaded a trial of Scavenger, with, frankly, little hope that it would be able to get much of the back up data off the disk. However, it is currently working away and has managed to so far get everything I've asked it to!

It's a great piece of kit, and has saved me a bundle on the repair man I was going to call out. Thanks a lot!

Every few months, I'm reminded that one CANNOT backup important data too often. (Please don't ask HOW I was reminded :-)

For those of you who "live" primarily in the Windows NTFS environment, I can personally recommend "File Scavenger" by QueTek Consulting (http://www.quetek.com/) for an affordable hard drive data recovery solution. Its "defunct volume" search mode "saved my cookies", so to speak -- and recovered 17,000+ graphics files from a failing HD in less than 45 minutes.

I was hesitant to buy the utility based solely on the glowing customer testimonials on the QueTek web site, but I did anyway. So, if you ever need to look for an undelete tool, you can add my glowing testimonial: File Scavenger worked even better than I'd hoped for.
